MORAY schoolboy Ben Reaich is off to Thailand with his family after capturing this heart-warming picture of a Highland Coo and her calf.
Ben (12), of Longmorn, took the picture of the pair in a field near to his home.
The Elgin Academy pupil entered it into a National Geographic Kids Photo competition.
And he was delighted when it won the animals category and was also named overall UK and Ireland national winner.
Ben (pictured inset) won an adventure kit camcorder, digital camera and a family holiday to Thailand with mum Donna, dad John and sister Paige.
His photo will now be entered into the International competition.
The judges were National Geographic photographer Reza, TV presenter Sonali Shah; and pop star Ronan Parke.
"Ben took the photo at the farm near our house and called it ‘Newborn Highland Cow’," said Donna.
He takes photos and makes videos all the time.
"He saved for a new camera and managed to buy the one he wanted earlier in the year. He used his new camera for the winning photograph. We are very proud of him for winning this competition," added Donna.
Ben said: "I took loads of pictures of these Highland cows after school one day. I went to Lossiemouth and took pictures of birds and the beaches. In the end I found it hard to choose between the photos.
"I really liked this one and so did everyone I asked when I showed them my photos. I’m really glad I picked this one."
Judge Reza said of his winning picture: "Ben’s photograph is beautiful. I love how he has captured a secret moment between the calf and its mother."
