TO mark Fairtrade Fortnight, the taste team had to check out some Fairtrade products.
First up was Divine's 70 per cent dark chocolate with ginger and orange. As we all know, 70 per cent chocolate can be pretty bitter and many people don't like it. And the addition of ginger usually makes it more bitter.
However, the taste team found this chocolate to be very enjoyable. The orange takes the edge off the chocolate and ginger, creating a smooth, enjoyable bar.
And as dark chocolate is good for you, it wouldn't be polite to pass on another square...
Staying with chocolate, the taste team cracked open a bar of Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Belgian Fairtrade Milk Chocolate.
Smooth and delicious, it was all the teenage taster could do to share a couple of squares – the bar was gone in no time!
Also tried from Sainsbury's was its Fairtrade Assam tea. With or without milk, this brew went down extremely well with the tasters.
Rich, smooth and full bodied, Cafédirect's Fairtrade Classics medium roast instant coffee proved to be very popular at tea break time, too.
There are lots more Fairtrade products available, with supermarkets all stocking their own and others' brands – not just food and drink.
So try helping make a difference this Fairtrade Fortnight.
