Tales of courage in heat of battle

IT IS the stuff of Hollywood movies. A sergeant leads his men in a battle against insurgents; he is wounded, has a piece of metal embedded in his knee yet he pulls it out .... then he steers the men through gun and grenade fire for five hours to retake control of an airfield they were defending.
