Friendly coffee and chat is now just a memory

Sir, - The final coffee afternoon hosted by the Red Cross for the elderly who have been befriended through their befriending service has taken place. A funding withdrawal by the council is bringing the service to an end. The main reason for this is that the service offered is not value for money in the terms that are used by those in authority today.
