Let's hope faults are not repeated in new school

Sir, - If and when it happens, let us hope that the staff, pupils and parents of New Elgin do not have to suffer another badly designed high school. As someone who taught in the school for many years, I know only too well its faults.

Attractive on the outside, it had its problems from day one - no proper performance area

hall/exam room, poor social areas, narrow corridors, classrooms which were too small, poor heating and ventilation etc.

Quite how Councillor Wright expects to build a decent secondary school for £14 million is beyond belief; possibly because the school has not yet been designed. Keith Primary has cost between £8 million and £10 million.

Still, at least he has let the SNP in Edinburgh know that they will only have to provide £7 million and Moray taxpayers will fork out the rest.

Finally, let us hope that the contractor involved will finish the job on time. - Yours etc,

Nick Ledingham

Elgin.
