£15,000 Speyside malt lead lot at whisky sale

A BOTTLE of Speyside malt, expected to fetch up to £15,000, is the lead lot at an Edinburgh whisky sale next week.

The bottle of The Glenfiddich 50-year-old will be sold during the Bonhams Whisky auction on Wednesday (December 11).

Filled on December 14 1939, and bottled in 1991, it is expected to make between £12,000 and £15,000.

Other notable Moray whiskies in the sale include a ‘Macallan Select Reserve-51 year old-1948’, estimated at between £4,000 and £6,000, and a ‘Macallan-1938’ estimated at £3,500 to £3,500.
