AROUND 2,000 chickens have been killed in a farm building fire near Brodie.
Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to attend the blaze at a chicken farm last night (January 14).
Control in Aberdeen received the call at 6.50pm, and two appliances from Forres were sent to the scene.
The farm building, which contained 2,000 chickens, was well alight when crews arrived. There were also propane cylinders within the building.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using two main jets, and were able to bring it under control before the cylinders were affected.
Crews also used a thermal imaging camera, and lighting and a water carrier from Buckie were involved. All of the birds died during the incident.
