MORAY Council has awarded the contract for repairs to the damaged seawall at Lossiemouth.
North Shields-based Southbay Civil Engineering Ltd will carry out the work which is expected to cost £450,000.
Huge waves backed by gale force winds breached the wall last December and caused damage to Station Park.
The local authority constructed a temporary wall from precast concrete blocks which has been protecting he area until a permanent solution was designed.
Repairs will involve the use of reinforced concrete with sandstone cladding to match the existing wall.
Southbay, who won the contract following competitive tender, will carry out temporary work to avert further deterioration prior to beginning the main repair work in the new year.
The Scottish Government’s fisheries harbour repair grant scheme is funding 50% of the cost.
A council spokesman said: "We are pleased to be working in partnership with Southbay Civil Engineering whose specialist knowledge in the marine and harbour environment contributed in winning the contract."
