A96 crash victim named

THE PEDESTRIAN who died after being hit by a bus on the A96. has been named.

He was Graeme Innes (52) from Keith.

One bus passenger received treatment at the scene for shock. The driver was uninjured.

Sergeant David Pirie of the Road Policing Department said, "Tragically, Mr Innes, was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our enquiries are progressing however at this stage it is too early to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision."

Collision Investigators carried out a detailed examination of the scene and a number of enquiries are ongoing.

"I would ask anyone who may have seen a male pedestrian in that area around the time of the collision to get in touch with us."

The incident happened at 11.20am on Sunday on the main trunk road, two miles south of Keith.

Mr Innes was struck by a southbound bus.

The A96 was closed in both directions for eight hours.

The Stagecoach bus was carrying around 25 passengers. No-one on the bus was injured.
