A CELEBRATION of the fundraising campaign to refurbish the children’s ward at Moray’s flagship hospital will take place this weekend.
The Moray Friends of ARCHIE appeal raised more than £140,000 to give the ward a bright new look.
Launched in November 2011, the appeal captured the imagination of people in Moray who rallied behind the project.
Included in the refurbishment will be digitally printed privacy curtains featuring local scenes.
The winners of a curtain competition run in conjunction with ‘The Northern Scot’ will be revealed in Friday’s paper and at the celebration on Saturday.
David Tipping, Director of Projects with ARCHIE, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the images that have been submitted for this competition. It has exceeded our expectations and picking a winner was an almost impossible task.
“With extra money having been raised, we have been able to select four winning images so each child can have a different scene to distract them in a four-bedded bay.
“We would like to say a big thank you to all the people who entered the competition and who have shown such great support for our appeal.”
The winning photographers will have their names printed onto the curtain with theirimage and they will be presented with a printed curtain as a memento.
Any supporter of the appeal who would like to attend the celebration is asked to email Chris Saunderson on firstname.lastname@example.org
Work on the children’s ward will start in the next few months.
