POLICE have arrested and charged a 14-year-old schoolboy following an alleged knife incident at Elgin Academy.
It is understood that the pupil has been accused of taking the knife into school and brandishing it during morning break on Tuesday.
Police were contacted when the weapon was allegedly spotted and the boy was removed from school and taken into custody.
The S4 pupil has been suspended from Elgin Academy, though there are no further details on how long the boy will be excluded for.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We can confirm that a 14 year old male has been reported to the relevant authorities in relation to having an offensive weapon in a public place."
The incident is reported to have happened in the auditorium of the new £30 million academy building.
Moray Council have confirmed that an incident took place in the school, but declined to comment further at this stage.
