Call to attend lighthouse meeting

MORAY folk interested in keeping an iconic lighthouse in the community are urged to attend a public meeting.

The Covesea Lighthouse Community Company (CLCC) want anyone interested in becoming involved in itsfuture development to attend.

Funding applications have now been submitted for the purchase and the initial running costs of the Covesea Lighthouse and the two keepers’ cottages as a heritage, visitor and education centre.

If the project is to be a success, the CLCC said it needs the expertise and enthusiasm of the people of Moray.

Representative Franziska Smith said: “There is something here for everyone, the lighthouse and maritime history, the RAF past and present, this site offers fantastic views over theactivities on the base, the environment, interpretation of the panoramic views across the firth, not forgetting dolphin watch from the shelter of the top of the lighthouse.

“Come along to the meeting to find out more about how you could help provide a new and exciting attraction, not only for Lossiemouth, but the whole of Moray and beyond.”

The meeting will be held in Lossie’s Town Hall next Wednesday at 7.15pm.
