THE children’s ward at Dr Gray’s is set to open again full-time from Monday.
NHS Grampian yesterday confirmed that it had successfully recruited two additional doctors.
Severe staffing shortages at the Elgin hospital meant the ward has been closed for the past eight weeks to any youngsters requiring overnight stays.
Responding to the news, Moray MSP Richard Lochhead said: "I know this will be welcomed by the community who highly value the excellent they care delivered at Dr Gray’s.
"Clearly, however, the situation is still fragile with the health board having had long-standing difficulties in recruiting staff to work in our local hospital.
"I’m continuing to work with public agencies to pursue medium and long term solutions to these recruitment challenges which are not going away fast."
