THE Commonwealth Games 2014 get underway tonight with the opening ceremony in Glasgow.
Moray has a number of medal hopefuls who will be in action over the coming days.
Hammer thrower Mark Dry, from Burghead, will be going for gold in the field event which starts on Monday with the qualifying rounds and concludes on Tuesday with the final.
Dry is one of the UK's top hammer throwers and narrowly missed out on selection for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Niall Cameron, from Elgin, is part of the men's table tennis team at Glasgow, making a return to the Commonwealth Games for the first time in 12 years.
And hockey player Nikki Kidd, from Buckie, is part of the Scottish team at the games.
There are also a number of volunteers from Moray taking part in the games, including seven officials from Elgin Amateur Athletics Club who are officiating in the track and field events.
