A NEW housing scheme at Keith looks likely to get the go-ahead.
Springfield Properties is behind the application for 60 properties for the north east corner of Keith, on Banff Road.
Planning officers said the proposal should be refused because it contravened sections of the Moray Structure and Local Plans.
Members heard the ‘structural planting’ of more trees would be required to mitigate the application’s impact on the amenity.
However, members of the authority’s planning and regulatory services committee voted they were ‘minded to approve’ the proposal as an acceptable departure, subject to detailed conditions.
That came following a 30-minute debate on the issue, where issues discussed included: the impact on the A95 and A96 junction; the visual effect on the approach to Keith; the degree of planting required; and the need for more homes in the town.
