MORAY Council’s corporate director of education and social care is leaving his position.
Sandy Riddell has been appointed as the new director of health and social care for Fife’s Health and Social Care Partnership, and will start his role in September.
After moving to Moray Council in 2005, Mr Riddell became director of community services and chief social work officer, and had responsibility for housing and social work.
However, following a management restructure in 2011, he became the corporate director for education and social care, with responsibility for all social work and education services.
Speaking on his new appointment, Mr Riddell said: I’m delighted to be coming to Fife.
"The integration of adult health and social care brings with it so much potential to make further improvements to a wide range of services for local communities. I’m really looking forward to working with such a committed group of people who have already done so much to embrace this important agenda."
A registered social worker, Mr Riddell is a graduate of Moray House College of Education, The Open University and the University of Stirling.
After qualifying in 1978, and before moving to Moray Council in 2005, he spent 27 years in Highland gaining experience across health and social care, criminal justice, and children and families social work services.
Moray Council is yet to confirm how, or when, Mr Riddell’s job will be advertised or filled.
