GUTTED restaurant staff have hit out at a mean thief who went to great lengths to steal money destined for sick children.
The Pancake Place in Elgin is running a raffle for the children’s ward at Dr Gray’s Hospital, with a giant cuddly Eeyore the star prize.
The raffle was still scheduled to be drawn this weekend despite the actions of the raider who made off with an estimated £180.
A small amount of money which had been collected for the Enable charity, which supports children with learning disabilities, was also stolen.
The cruel theft was discovered last Thursday morning by assistant manager Kath Turner, who had donated Eeyore as a prize, as she opened up for the day.
"I feel a bit sickened and quite low. To take the money is unfair on the children's ward," she said.
