A DRESS code is being brought in for Moray's taxi trade.
Drivers will also be banned from smoking while they are parked at ranks, and will be required to undergo language and knowledge tests as part of their licensing application.
It follows a review of taxi and private hire licences by Moray Council’s licensing committee.
Consultation was carried out during February when representations were sought from the public, the taxi trade, local organisations, Police Scotland and other interested parties. Responses were studied by a sub-group of five councillors whose recommendations were subsequently approved by the licensing committee.
It was the first time in more than 10 years that a review of taxi and private hire licences had been carried out. The local authority said details of the dress code will be finalised following discussion with the trade.
