FAMILIES evacuated because of a flood threat in Elgin are expected to spend the night in temporary accommodation.
The River Lossie is still extremely high despite peaking at around 5pm and the situation was continuing to be closely monitored.
Moray Council identified around 200 households most at risk from flooding and began evacuating families around lunchtime.
Most of the homes were in the South Lesmurdie and Kingsmills areas.
Many families have opted to move in with family and friends while others decided to stay in their homes.
However around 50 people from 20 households were taken to a rest centre at Elgin High School.
Some are expected to stay in the rest centre overnight while attempts are made to find alternative accommodation for others.
