HOMES were without power and residents evacuated on Christmas Eve as winds battered Moray.

Police sealed off a stretch of Linkwood Road just after 11pm on Tuesday after a large section of a former sawmill collapsed.

Three families were forced from their nearby properties as emergency services worked to make the area safe.

Elsewhere, roads were blocked and overhead lines were affected by trees coming down, with homes in the Elgin, Forres and Fochabers areas among those impacted by power cuts.

In this week's 'Scot', one of those evacuated tells of the ordeal.
