A MOVE to complete extensive roadworks on Fochabers High Street, before the start of the school Easter holidays, has been welcomed by local councillors.

Fochabers-Lhanbryde councillors Douglas Ross, Sean Morton and Margo Howe said this week that the roadworks on the High Street, which are the final part of the bypass project, will start on Monday (February 25).

"I am very pleased that the contractors have listened to the concerns of local businesses and taken on additional resources to allow the works to start earlier, with the aim to have them completed before the Easter period which is a busy time for local shops," said Councillor Ross.

Councillor Howe added: "The bypass has made a huge difference to the two communities, and the work to repair the old trunk road in the villages prior to the handover to the council will make a difference to residents and businesses alike."
