RESIDENTS are "fed-up and very frustrated" by delays in completing roadworks in Fochabers and Mosstodloch, according to a Moray councillor who says the project is more than seven months overdue.
Douglas Ross, a councillor for Fochabers-Lhanbryde, said he is concerned that detrunking works – which started this week on the old A96 – should have been finished in January.
The Conservative councillor’s concerns follow a surgery he held recently, during which he said the majority of public comments related to the road works through Mosstodloch and Fochabers.
He said: "I had a large turnout of local residents at my surgery in Mosstodloch and the majority were raising concerns about the quality of road surface coming into the village and the fact that the water didn’t drain into the gullies.
"We are more than seven months past the date Transport Scotland assured us the works would be finished in the two villages and many people are beginning to wonder if they will even be completed by January next year. The whole situation really is a shambles."
