Food network wants Moray to produce more of its own

AN EFFORT is being launched for Moray to produce even more of its own food.

The Moray Food Network (MFN) is behind the drive.

It will host a free event on Friday March 28 at the Inkwell in Elgin when  Moray MP Angus Robertson will be the guest speaker.

The event will also include a demonstration by local food writer Liz Ashworth.

There will also be displays by local food initiatives, businesses and community groups.

The MFN was established two years ago as a partnership between a number of local community groups who work to support local food suppliers and growing initiatives in Moray.

Said Jo Roberts, MFN chair: “Throughout the last two years we have seen an increase in people committed to buying local produce and wanting to know where their food has come from.

"The network is keen to support embryonic businesses grow from domestic suppliers into producers, just like many of the area’s well-known food businesses have done."
