FORRES shoppers are being asked for information following evidence suggesting a skimming device may have been attached to an ATM.
Police are investigating a report that a device could have been installed on the cash machine at the Tesco store on Nairn Road.
Damage to the ATM suggests that some time between January 22 and February 6, a skimming device was attached, or an attempt was made to attach one.
No reports have been received so far from anyone who has been left out of pocket after using the cash point, but officers are keen to speak to those who may have seen anything suspicious around the ATM.
Investigating officer Constable Fiona MacLeod said: "If anyone has any concerns about the security of their account, or any suspicious activity, then they should contact their bank for further information.
"I’d advise anyone when using ATMs to be aware of their surroundings, make sure their PIN isn’t visible to others when they are typing in and report any irregularities as soon as possible."
Anyone with information about the damage to the cash machine, which is the one situated nearest the public access door to the store, is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 6005700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
