A new Forres Boys’ Brigade Company will be unveiled this week.
The oldest uniformed youth organisation in the world will officially return to the Moray town on Thursday night after a break of many years.
Ian Adams, captain designate, will launch the company at its new home in Forres Town Hall (February 6). An anchor boys' section for 5-7 year-olds begins at 6pm for an hour, followed by the launch of the juniors (8 – 10 years).
The company is also hoping to introduce a section for members aged 10+ around Easter time.
Members will aim to achieve badges and awards while taking part in a range of sporting events, marching and drill exercises as well as camping and outdoor centre activities for older boys.
Forres BBs will be attached to St John’s Episcopal Church and the Very Reverend Cliff Piper will be company chaplain.
With the Boys' Brigade being a church-based Christian organisation, members are taught about the Christian faith in a fun and enjoyable way to make it understandable for their age.
The new Forres group is seeking new members, as well as any former BB members, parents or willing volunteers – subject to PVG child protection checks – to come and join them.
