A plan to improve high-speed Internet access in Forres has been welcomed.

A MORAY town is set to benefit from a major expansion in high-speed broadband Internet.

Forres has been included in BT’s roll-out of high-speed fibre broadband, in an announcement that has been welcomed by Moray Council.

Forres is set to be upgraded by the end of Spring 2014.

Fiona Murdoch, the chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure committee, said the investment was further good news for the upgrading of broadband services in Moray.

Elgin is already set to be upgraded later this year.

Councillor Murdoch said: "This is very welcome news and will reinforce Moray’s strong credentials as a great place to live and do business – and the key role of Forres in the high tech Life Sciences sector."
