Forums share survey findings

COMMUNITY issues highlighted during a survey in Elgin are on display in the town.

A joint survey by Elgin North and Elgin South Area Forums flagged up a number of key issues, including a lack of vibrancy in the town, transport and parking problems, litter and dog fouling.

The forums sought information from local agencies on what was being done to tackle the problems.

Their responses can be viewed at exhibitions in the town.

The Strategic Partnership for Improving the City of Elgin (SPICE) is looking at ways of combating litter and dog fouling.

The survey results can be discussed with forum members in Asda on Wednesday (tomorrow), Tesco on Thursday and Moray Leisure Centre on Friday, from 10am to 5pm each day.

"The initial object of the exercise was to get more members for the forums. Some of the concerns that were put forward to us we put to relevant agencies and we got some really good feedback," said Elgin North chair Sheila Hollis.

For a report on dog fouling and efforts to crack down on offenders in Moray read ‘The Northern Scot’ on Friday.
