Grant Lodge future to be discussed

Written byHazel Lawson

THE future of a landmark Elgin building will be discussed tonight (Monday).

Moray Council will hold a meeting with interested parties to look at the options available for Grant Lodge.

The former library in Cooper Park has lain empty and boarded up since a fire in July, 2003.

Council chief executive Roddy Burns has organised the meeting after it was discovered the local authority still had about £140,000 from the insurance payout following the blaze.

It is estimated that about £3 million will be needed to restore the lodge to its former glory.

The event will be held in the assembly hall at Elgin Academy and starts at 7pm.
