POLICE have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into hate mail allegations made by a former Moray councillor.
Carolle Ralph revealed her decision to quit last week in ‘The Scot’ after a prolonged hate mail and social media stalking campaign.
She said the level of abuse had caused great personal and family stress and she was stepping down as a member of the Heldon and Laich ward.
Speaking on her Facebook page, Mrs Ralph told wellwishers: "I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart, every single person who has been kind enough to message me and support me over what has been a very difficult time. I am so thankful to have so many good and loyal friends and I can't tell you how much it has meant to me."
Mrs Ralph, a former social worker, was elected in May for the first time; however, she was devastated at the time when then SNP colleague and fellow Save RAF Lossiemouth capaigner David Stewart failed to win re-election.
A by-election to find a replacement for Mrs Ralph is likely to be held towards the end of March.
