A HORRIFIC encounter with a bus left a Moray jogger lucky to be alive.
Miraculously, Susan McGregor escaped serious injury, despite being knocked to the ground and ending up beneath the bus.
Susan (24), of Elgin, suffered nothing worse than a damaged shoulder, a badly scraped face and a gaping hole in the back of her head which required six stitches.
The consequences could have been considerably worse, and recovering at home, she used the frightening experience to issue a safety warning to other runners.
Susan admits that she was at fault in the incident, as she was running while listening to music on headphones, was dressed almost entirely in black, and had taken a short cut across the corner of Elgin Bus Station.
She has vowed to ditch the music when running in future, and urged others who run, cycle or walk while wearing headphones to be aware of the danger it poses.
"I thought I looked right as I was coming up to the bus station, but obviously I couldn’t hear the bus," she said.
"It must have hit me on the right -hand side, because I have a few scrapes and I split the back of my head when I fell. The paramedics told me I was under the front of the bus."
