A MAN is believed to have lost his lower arm after trapping it in machinery at a Moray grain store.

The man, aged 55, was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by helicopter following the industrial accident at WN Lindsay Ltd, in Keith, on Wednesday.

Dr Pete Williams, a consultant in emergency and paediatric emergency medicine at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin, said his colleague, Dr Pam Hardy, was asked to assist on the scene.

The patient had sustained "serious injuries", he said. "This patient was trapped, with the ambulance and fire services unable to free him."

"Dr Hardy was taken from the emergency department at Dr Gray’s Hospital to the scene by the police, where she used her considerable skillset to effect an extrication. They were then airlifted to ARI."
