A TORNADO aircraft flew over troops from RAF Lossiemouth as they stood in front of family, friends and well wishers during a Homecoming parade in Elgin this morning.

HRH the Duke of York, Honorary Air Commodore of the Moray base, took the salute from the 130 men and women from 5 Force Protection Wing, many of whom returned form their last tour of duty in Afghanistan on Saturday.

The Duke presented Operational Service Medals for deployment on Operation Herrick as well as trophies out side St Giles’ Church.

A crowd of almost 300 applauded as the troops came in to view at the west end of the High Street.

The Duke congratulated personnel and welcomed them home following their seven month deployment, before thanking them for their service at home and in Afghanistan.
