KINGSTON villagers have described a meeting to discuss how best to protect the village from coastal erosion as a "step forward".
Erosion expert Greg Guthrie met villagers, community representatives, councillors and officials this week to review the threat to the shingle bank that protects houses from the seas.
Afterwards community spokesman David McKay said: "It was a definite step forward. It will be very interesting to see his final report."
A spokesman for Moray Council added: "The meeting produced a very frank and useful exchange of views on the situation at Kingston and the input from the local community representatives was particularly helpful.
"Greg Guthrie will carry out a review of the information that has emerged as a result of the monitoring of the shingle bank over the past two years or so.
"Based on his conclusions, a report will be submitted to the council’s economic development and infrastructure services committee in December."
