AN ATTEMPT to have Milne’s High School removed from Moray’s ongoing education review has been rejected.
The Fochabers school is the only secondary to have been highlighted for possible closure by consultants Caledonian Economics in a document that set out various possibilities to improve educational provision.
At a meeting of Moray Council on Wednesday, efforts were made to take the option of closing Milne’s off the table as part of the local authority’s sustainable education review.
The motion was defeated by 21 votes to three.
As well as Milne’s, closures of more than 20 primary schools were included as possible options in the document for the education review, which also included a range of school mergers and rebuilds and 3-18 campuses serving nursery to senior secondary school pupils at Speyside, Keith Grammar and Lossiemouth.
