MORAY councillors have approved a new staffing structure to integrate a range of services for children and young people with additional needs.
The new service will see a number of key services for youngsters brought together including social work support for children and families, youth work, educational psychology and additional support provision.
The move by the council’s recently established education and social care department is viewed by the local authority as the next important stage in providing a better co-ordinated and targeted service to meet the needs of local youngsters.
Councillor Anne Skene, who chairs Moray Council’s children and young people’s services committee, welcomed the development.
She said: "Integrated working is key to making a real difference to the lives of children, young people and their families. The new structure will ensure closer working between professionals and the best use of the council’s resources to support the public."
