A CELEBRATION of Moray's musical talent has got off to a terrific start.
Hundreds of children from across the district will perform over the next five days at the biennial Moray Musical Festival.
Singing, speech, drama, dancing and performances with a range of musical instruments will take place in eight venues across Elgin between March 12-17.
Festival chair Margaret Macfadyen said she was delighted with the level of entries.
The festival will follow a tried and tested formula again this year, with a top line up of adjudicators from the world of music and the arts.
A special award this year will be awarded in memory of former chairwoman Jean Maciver, who died last year after almost 40 years on the committee.
"Jean was a great role model and we all miss her," said Mrs Macfadyen.
"She was a great supporter of the arts," she added.
The Jean Maciver Memorial Award will be presented to the outstanding entrant in the speech and drama classes at Sunday's closing concert.
Tickets for the concert are on sale at the festival office in Elgin Town Hall, along with details of the schedule for the week.
