Moray remains in the frame for a new malt whisky distillery.
Diageo this week submitted pre-planning applications in relation to three possible sites, two of them in Moray, but stressed no final decision has been taken on which one will be chosen.
Proposal of Application Notices (PANs) have been lodged with Moray Council for potential development at Glendullan Distillery, Dufftown, and Inchgower Distillery, near Buckie, and with Highland Council for a possible development at Teaninich, Ross-shire.
All three sites are adjacent to existing Diageo distilleries.
The PAN process allows for consultation to begin with local communities in advance of a full planning application being submitted.
