FROM ‘Live at the Apollo’ to Live at Elgin Town Hall, comedian Simon Evans (right) is en route to the North.
Moray’s quarterly comedy club, ‘Do You Like Jokes?’ has announced the headliner for their March 16 comedy night on the Town Hall stage.
Evans, from Hove, East Sussex, is a well-known face due to his recent appearances on the BBC’s ‘Live at the Apollo’, ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’ and ‘Mock the Week’.
Radio listeners will recognise him from Radio 4’s ‘The News Quiz’, ‘Armando Ianucci’s Charm Offensive’ and ‘The Unbelievable Truth’.
Travelling the length of Britain to headline in Elgin is unlikely to phase Evans – he includes Montreal Just for Laughs, Aspen Comedy Festival, New Zealand Comedy Festival and Cape Town Comedy Festival among his live stand-up credits.
Organisers are working to confirm the rest of the line-up for the night, which will follow the same format as previous events: a compère with four professional comics, and a licensed bar.
‘Do You Like Jokes?’ made its debut in July last year with Canadian comic Tom Stade, followed by BBC3 star Joel Dommett in November.
Event promoter Paul Rollo said: “To be able to bring comedy talent of this calibre to a town the size of Elgin is a tribute to the enthusiasm of the people here.
“Previous acts have been amazed by the size of the audience supporting live comedy and the warmth of their welcome in Moray.”
Tickets for the event, which is for audiences aged 18 and over, are now available priced £15 from www.doyoulikejokes.co.uk and from 01343 591111.
