Both the Labour and Conservative groups have gained a councillor each.

Sean Morton clinched one of the seats in the Fochabers Lhanbryde ward for Labour, and Tory James Allan will represent Elgin South following Thursday's vote.

Councillor Morton will sit with Barry Jarvis, who was re-elected in Elgin North, and councillor for Elgin South John Divers, who was elected for a fourth time.

Councillor Allan will join Allan Wright, councillor for Heldon and Laich, and Fochabers Lhanbryde councillor Douglas Ross.

The parties could prove to be influential in the make-up of the next administration.

Ten SNP and 10 Independents have also been elected.
