MORAY was one of the top three areas in Scotland in 2013 in terms of employment.
According to figures released today (Wednesday), 78.8% of those aged 16-64 years in Moray were in employment.
The Shetland Islands were the top area at over 83%, while neighbouring Orkney Islands were second on 81%.
The largest decreases in unemployment rates across Scotland were in Inverclyde, South Ayrshire and East Dunbartonshire.
The average employment rate for Scotland was 71%.
The figures are revealed by Scotland’s Chief Statistician and are drawn from the Annual Population Survey (APS) for January to December 2013.
The lowest employment rate was in North Ayrshire at just over 60%.
Local authority areas in the North fared better than other areas, with those in the western central belt and south west of Scotland faring the worst.
