MORAY MAN Charles Macdonald is preparing to write a new chapter in his success as a poet.
He has sold 15,000 copies of his poetry books highlighting local places of outstanding beauty, and around 800 have been snapped up by “exiles” abroad.
Now Charles is producing 10 selected poems at £10 per set, with all proceeds going to The Oaks palliative care centre at Elgin. He will personally sign each set, and postage is free worldwide.
His poems, he said, are of places dear to his heart and tell of his feelings for the handiwork of God.
A source of inspiration for his work, he said, was one day plodding along Burghead Bay when a severe thunderstorm saw him take refuge in a disused salmon fisheries bothy where written on the wall was: “I have travelled the world but the fantastic beauty that I have witnessed along this bay towards Findhorn is the finest scenery that I have ever encountered (from a grateful explorer).”
He can be contacted at Flat 9, Innes House, near Elgin, IV30 8NG.
