TWO key polls in 2014 will be counted in new venues in Moray.
Elgin Town Hall is traditionally the venue for all election counts.
However, the hall is scheduled to be closed for most of 2014 as it undergoes a redevelopment.
With the European Parliament elections taking place at the beginning of June and a Scottish independence referendum planned for the Autumn, councillors have agreed alternative venues for both counts.
The Euro Parliament count will take place in the assembly hall at Elgin Academy, which will not cause disruption to pupils or staff.
The referendum poll will be counted in the Fisherman’s Hall, Buckie.
Postal votes will be handled from Moray Council’s headquarters in Elgin.
Should Elgin Town Hall be back in use for either poll, arrangements will revert back to the venue.
