THE second of four drop-in exhibitions being held by Moray Council as part of a public consultation on new wind energy policy guidance is taking place at Elgin Town Hall from 2.30pm to 8.30pm today (Wednesday).
The exhibitions are being manned by council planning officers who are on hand to explain the new guidance and the siting of wind turbines within the landscape.
According to the council, the consultation continues until September 14 and once approved the new guidance will be treated as a material consideration in determining planning applications for wind turbines over 20 metres in height.
The council’s existing policy guidance on wind energy dates from 2005, since when the council says there have been increasing concerns about the potential impact of wind turbines on the Moray landscape.
Further drop-in exhibitions will be held at the Longmore Hall in Keith tomorrow (Thursday) and at Forres Town Hall on Monday, September 10, both also from 2.30pm to 8.30pm.
