TRAVEL agents in Moray have seemingly survived the cull of Thomas Cook stores.Thomas Cook announced last week that it was planning to close 195 stores across the UK, and later confirmed that total would include 18 of its Scottish branches.
However, the Thomas Cook store in Elgin, as well as the Co-Operative Travel shop the company owns in Buckie, are not on that list.
Announcing the closures elsewhere in the UK, Thomas Cook UK and Europe chief executive Peter Fankhauser, said: "It is never easy to make decisions that impact directly on our people, but we also owe it to our customers to shape the business effectively and ensure that, when they book their holiday with us, our administrative costs are as low as possible."
Thomas Cook has revealed that 84 jobs could be at risk from the closure of the 18 stores.
