ELGIN’S former Two Red Shoes Ballroom failed to sell when it went under the hammer last week.
The central venue was up for grabs with a guide price of £125,000 at Wilsons Auctions, Dalry, Ayrshire.
Property department manager Paul Bott said although some offers were made, they were unacceptable to the vendor.
However, continued interest for the commercial premises means it is likely to go up for auction again, with a possible date in November to be confirmed.
Mr Bott said he has meanwhile been asked for further information from a number of interested parties.
The premises, located at 4-6 South College Street, include a main theatre and stage, office, reception, toilets, stores, café space, kitchen, meeting rooms, rehearsal space and studios.
Buyers were told: “Formerly known as The Two Red Shoes Ballroom and more recently as The Red Shoes Theatre, the premises have played host to such world famous and influential bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.
“These premises would be ideal for continued use as a theatre and music venue, but could also be adapted to a wide range of commercial uses, subject to planning approval.”
The former music venue closed as a ballroom in the 1980s and subsequently housed a range of businesses – from a café to squash courts – before being re-opened as The Red Shoes Theatre in 2006. Re-branded as The Venue in October, 2010, it closed after just a few weeks, and has remained shut up since.
