FIRE has ripped through a derelict bus at an historic site in Elgin.
Firefighters raced to the Oldmills site on Tuesday afternoon.
A double decker bus which has been on the site for some time was well ablaze by the time they reached the scene.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus had to tackle the fire.
Incident commander Alan Weston confirmed that a cordon had been placed around the site after initial fears that gas cylinders may be on the bus.
The fire took some time to extinguish due to the extent of the fire.
Oldmills has been subject of enforcement action by Moray Council over the mess of the site.
A joint investigation by fire and police is ongoing.
