PEOPLE with concerns over flooding are advised to call Moray Council’s out of hours number on 08457 565656.
The local authority and partner agencies are continuing to monitor the level of the River Lossie which was predicted to peak around 5pm.
The council made arrangements earlier in the afternoon to evacuate some 200 households, mainly in the South Lesmurdie and Kingsmills areas of Elgin, which were considered to be at greatest risk.
Around 20 households were taken to a rest centre set up at Elgin High School where they currently remain.
Some opted to move in with family and friends while others decided to stay in their homes.
Meanwhile, a rest centre which was put on standby at Forres Community Centre after the River Findhorn rose to dangerously high levels has now been stood down.
Many roads in the Moray area continue to be affected by surface water and some are only passable with care.
