POLICE are investigating the theft of copper from a Moray quarry.

Cable containing the metal was taken from Parkmore Quarry, near Dufftown, during a night-time raid.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said: "There have been three separate instances of theft of copper core cable between Sunday, August 16 and Friday, August 31 – all having taken place overnight.

"Due to the size and quantity of cable stolen a vehicle must have been used in these crimes."

Anyone with information regarding this incident or who has seen a suspicious vehicle in the area is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700 or, to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
