MACHINERY worth more than £10,000 has been stolen from a Moray builder’s yard.

Police said a twin axle trailer and a JCB mini digger were taken from a site at Elgin’s Pinefield Industrial Estate on December 30.

The equipment was valued at a low five-figure sum.

Launching an appeal for witnesses, investigating officer, Constable Lynne Ferguson, said: "The trailer and digger are bulky items and it is likely that the trailer, which has sides and measures about 3 metres long by 2 metres wide, was used to transport the JCB mini digger.

"We believe the theft happened during the early evening of Sunday, December 30, 2012 and I would appeal to anyone who saw a trailer and mini digger being driven in or around Elgin at this time to contact us."

Anyone who has been offered plant equipment that they suspect is stolen, or has information regarding this theft, is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700. To remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
