Postal votes out for Buckie by-election

Postal votes will be sent out today for the forthcoming Buckie by-election.

Some 17% of the electorate have opted for postal votes which should be returned as soon as possible to allow them to be processed and verified.

The rest of the electorate will be able to use one of six polling places on Thursday, January 30.

They are at Buckpool Golf Club, the Fishermen’s Hall, the Royal British Legion Hall, the North Church Hall, Portessie Methodist Church Hall and Findochty Town Hall.

Voters are reminded to check their voting card for details of their polling station as it may have changed.

Four candidates are in he running for a seat on Moray Council, which follows the resignation of former councillor Anne McKay, who stood down for personal reasons.

They are Gordon Cowie (Independent), Margaret Gambles (Conservative), Marc Macrae (Independent) and Linda McDonald (SNP).
